If I were a boy....but why would I want to be?

It's been over a decade since I cued my first record at a real party, for a real dance floor. I remember when I'd get so caught up in the music that I wouldn't stop to look up and or around me. It's almost as if I kept my head down. Maybe I was affraid that I just might stand tall enough for everyone to notice me.

When I was in college I dated a boy who was exactly my height and when I wore high heels, I towered over him. For nearly two years I only wore flats and I hate flats.

I've always done what I've had to do, to get where I want to go and be who I want to be. Sometimes I wonder why I have this gift of brilliance and ambition but yet I'm too scared to let it shine. Sometimes when people look at me as I stand on a stage in the center of everything, I can see the hate in their eyes. The higher the stage goes, the stronger the hate grows. I suppose I could just jump off, face down so that nobody will hate me again but believe it or not I did that already.

This time, I'm just going to look strait back at those venomous eyes and smile, I'm going to be turning heads and I'm going to wear the sexiest pair of stilettos, with the sexiest dress, hair done, nails done as I tower over the DJ booth, with my shoulders back and head up high and this time I'm going to watch the world as they notice me passing by.

Ne-Yo at Salon Mllesime

Last night I had the opportunity to open and close for R&B superstar Ne-Yo. His performance was amazing and I had a blast.

L.A. Reid sat a foot away from the intimate Millesime stage and watched another one of his great artists prove that they are worth all the fame and fortune. It was a private music industry soiree so of course nobody was really listening to the music but I did get some love for throwing in some Stevie Wonder.

Experience

Tonight I DJed two gigs back to back, Marquee 8-11pm and then Millesime 11:15pm-3am. I flawlessly held it down at Marquee with an amped up crowd ready, willing and able to get down. When I arrived at Millesime, I didn't quite switch gears and Millesime is a lounge not a club. I was already operating at a level 10 before I warmed up the crowd, and by the time I looked around I could tell I was loosing them. People started to leave. 5 years ago, I would of panicked. Now, I just take a deep breath, take my time because somewhere in the back of my head I know, I just KNOW. I know that I can earn the respect and admiration of any crowd. Not because I'm the best or better than anyone else, but because I trust my own experience and that faith always connects me to the music which at some point will always connect with everyone else in the room. Within 20 minutes after I lost them, I got them back with a little stevie wonder mixed with some Melonie Fiona....a beautiful combination!

Salon Millesime

Was INSANE tonight. It was a special charity event/auction to build a school in Haiti. Adrian Brody was the highest bidder for a date with Gerard Butler, Courtney Love was smoking in the bathroom, Russel Crowe got touchy feely with Susan Sarandon or wait a minute...maybe that was Gerard Butler, its hard to tell as they both do look a like. Ed Norton dressed down but seemed genuine, and one of the members of Miike Snow (who I think is AWESOME BTW) walked around with a scrubby beard looking like Jesus. The climax of the evening however was when Gerard Butler, literally grabbed a cocktail waitress and whisked her to a corner in the room. He whispered a few things into the ear of this lovely, blushing waitress as she giggled. Rumor has it, that he asked her for her number. Forget being a DJ at Salon Millesime, being a cocktail waitress seems to be where the action is......

Adrian and Gerard embrace on the red carpet as they arrived (hmm)

Overload

Can barely keep up with a regular blog so figured it would be best to just stick with this blog as I don't have to write everyday or week for that matter.

It was been insane! Sunday at SkyBar, Just got home from Marquee, Tomorrow I have a charity event in the LES, Friday another Charity Event in NoMad. Not to mention the work behind my special weekly party Savor!

I will bring more deets, but these past few months have been insane and yes I LOVE what I do, but I work almost everyday. My head is spinning! (no pun intended;)
